Tinkerbelle gave birth this morning to 6 Single-maned Lionlop kits.

Smores & Bubba had their first litter a couple days ago. 3 of them made it, however the other 4 of the 7 did not. I'm very thankful for these 3.

This litter of 3 are purebred holland lops. 2 are solid, and 1 has a broken patterned coat. It's too early to tell their genders and dwarf types, but I'll update when I have that info!

So next week is Darla is due, and the week after that will be Smores' due date! I'm so excited, and I can't wait to see what happens. Let's cross our fingers and pray for these little ones!

To recap, here's some more info on these upcoming litters.

Darla is due Friday, June 12th.
Expecting: Purebred VM/VC Holland Lops
Summary: These kits will be Vienna Marked / Vienna Carriers, because Darla is a Blue-eyed White Holland lop, and was bred to a (solid colored) tort buck, Bubba! Darla, as a BEW, carries a gene (the vienna gene) that may give her kits white markings, blue eyes, and patterns of white on their coats.

Smores is due Friday, June 19th.
Expecting: Purebred Solid/Broken colored Holland Lops
Summary: These kits will be fully pedigreed, coming from promising lines of handsome, show quality hollands such as BMW, THF, GC Camelot and The Nature's Trail's. As if Desa's story couldn't be worse, I just learned today that Desa was pregnant when I bought her 3 weeks ago (Gestation period is normally 4 weeks). Unfortunately, the bunny mill failed to let me know of this ahead of time. I honestly don't understand how anyone who calls themselves a breeder could even let this happen, but - lesson learned, for me at least. You should always know if your rabbit is pregnant, especially if you decide to send it away - atleast tell its' new owner ahead of time.

Ok, so Desa built a nest today, and gave birth to one stillborn kit, who did not make it. When I saw Desa building her nest, I assumed that it was a false pregnancy, as she was never exposed or bred to any of my bucks, and because I assumed that her breeder would at least have told me that she was bred, before I took her home with me (WRONG). I really wanted to believe that Desa's breeder would have told me before hand if she was pregnant, and assumed that Desa was only going through a false pregnancy (in which only the nest is made), but sadly she was really pregnant when I bought her. Great thanks to the breeder for not letting me know.

Like I mentioned earlier, Desa was in a cage with two other rabbits when I went to pick her up from this bunny mill. Although I knew one of her cagemates was a female, I'm assuming the other was most likely a buck. Either that, or Desa was obviously exposed to a male about a week prior to when I took her home with me.

I'm honestly appalled at this entire situation at this point, and I'm going to stop here before I say anything more.

With that said, Desa is actually doing well, hopping around like normal.. I just wish these irresponsible breeders would just wake up.

Alright.. On a more positive note - Darla and Smores are due in less than two weeks, and I am very prepared and excited for their litters. I'll be here to do the best that I can for them. (:

I wish other breeders could say the same for their pregnant does as well.

Promise to Desa

Meet Desa - the unfortunate product of irresponsible breeders. When I first saw that this breeder (who will remain unnamed) had a blue-eyed white doe for sale, I was excited to pick up Desa from their rabbitry. Unfortunately, I had no idea what kind of breeder and what living conditions Desa had been in, before I decided to take her home with me. I had no idea what kind of breeder I was about to buy from, and was not aware of her breeding history and reputation of unreliability. Sadly, I'd have to learn about this, and the existence of Bunny Mills the hard way.

The Bunny Mill:
When I first met Desa, she was living in a cramped cage with 2 other rabbits - much like many of the other rabbits around her in the rabbitry. This was my first encounter with what is known as a 'Bunny Mill'. I initially meant to buy her sister, who is listed on my page as 'Darla' - but the breeder offered Desa to me for free, as the woman needed cage space (which was very evident). Fortunately for Desa, I couldn't leave her in those living conditions, and decided to take her home with me, in hopes of providing them a better home.

Desa's Condition:
Desa chews the fur on her feet, including the comb over that is needed to protect her heels. When I asked the breeder of this issue, she responded 'That's just a Holland Lop thing that they do.'

Again, unfortunately, some breeders just don't pay enough attention to their rabbits' living conditions to maintain a healthy living standard for their rabbits. No matter how many of your rabbits chew their fur - it is NOT normal. Desa most likely chewed her fur in anxiety from living in such cramped and dirty living conditions. In addition, as I took a closer look at her feet, I noticed that her nails were curling in massive length. Obviously, if a rabbit's feet are not trimmed, their toes can be extremely uncomfortable and get caught in the holes of a wired bottom cage. With that said - two of her toes are visibly growing abnormally sideways, which I noticed as I was clipping her nails. I refuse to believe that this is 'just something that Holland Lops do', especially when I have had several healthy ones that have never succumbed to such self mutilating behavior.

Not only was Desa's feet bald and contorted, but she was also very thin. Visibly, her spine portruded, and the lines of her muscles were visible through her fur - unlike a normal rabbit who should look healthily round. I decided not to take pictures of her at that time, because of how disturbing the image of her body was. Luckily, in the pictures above (taken recently), it is evident that she is now gaining more and more weight, which I am very happy about.

This breeder had accepted Desa's 'bad habits', and allowed for it to continue. However, with enough attention and care - I know that Desa can be a normal, healthy bunny again.

Desa's spirit:
After considering Desa's condition, and not even receiving a pedigree or explanation from this breeder - I decided to keep Desa to try and rehabilitate her physically and emotionally, by cleaning her, grooming her, providing her a more spacious home, and giving her ample socialization time. I imagined Desa to be a very shy and afraid, knowing that she lived her life in a cramped cage with two other rabbits in obviously uncomfortable living conditions - but after days of socialization, she seems to have warmed up quite a bit. She lacks energy, but loves to be scratched behind her ears, and pet on her nose. On a daily basis, I pet her and hold her to give her the affection that she most likely lacked in her previous 'home'. She is the reason why I strive for a better standard of breeding in the world of domesticated rabbits.

Our PROMISE:
With that said, although my first experience with a Bunny Mill was a very sad and frustrating experience - I have learned a lot about the rabbit breeding world, including the ways that I can try and improve the standards of breeding. Rabbits are wonderful animals that I believe make unique and therapeutic pets - but the standards in which they are bred, must be improved.

Lolli Lops Rabbitry has made a Promise to Desa, that all rabbits bred at our rabbitry will:

1) Have their OWN spacious, clean and suitable cage, and will NEVER be housed together.
2) Always be groomed, with their nails trimmed, fur brushed and cleaned if necessary to maintain a healthy and comfortable living condition.
3) Be fed enough to maintain a healthy weight, no matter what.
4) Have an equal amount of ample socialization time to encourage friendly and affectionate personalities.
5) Always have monthly health exams, to ensure that they are in the best health and most comfortable living condition that they can be in.

Honestly, much of this was what I thought was common sense when it came to housing rabbits, so nonetheless - our Promise to Desa will be an everlasting one at our rabbitry.

P.S. The purpose of this post was to let rabbit lovers and enthusiasts know that although there are irresponsible breeders out there, there are still some who are inspired to improve the standard of breeding to maintain the health and friendly personalities of these lovely animals.

In regards to the rabbitry that I saved Desa from, I have very little respect for this rabbitry, and do feel the need to caution future potential rabbit owners from buying from this rabbitry - but as much as I'd like to post their name on my blog - I am here to let people know there is hope in improving the standard of the breeding of rabbits, and to hopefully inspire / remind breeders of this.. I am not here to put others down.

With that said, if you personally ask / email me about the rabbitry in this blog, I will have absolutely no problem with providing you the rabbitry's name and owner, as a warning to potential customers.

The Vienna Gene is carried by BEW's such as Darla. This particular gene is passed to the BEW's offspring when bred to a rabbit without the Vienna gene (such as Bubba!), to produce babies that are either Vienna Marked or Vienna Carriers (VM/VC). Babies that carry the Vienna gene can be distinguished by the white markings that they show around their fur, [such as their chest, feet (Etc)]. Sometimes, they'll even have blue eyes too! These babies will be great in a VM/VC or BEW holland lop program.

BEW Lion Lops!

So, I mentioned that there would be some exciting news a couple days ago, and here it is.

Lolli Lops is really excited to announce our new Blue-Eyed White Lion Lops program!

Like I said, I've never seen this done around my area - so I'm very excited to see how they turn out. Not only are Lion Lops rare enough as it is, but to have them in BEW is pretty much unheard of at this point. BEW's are rarely seen in Lionheads, and espcially Holland Lops - so you can imagine why I'm so excited for my new BEW Lion Lops program.

Thanks to Christie for my BEW Lionhead, and Courtney for my BEW Holland Lop - I will be expecting a litter of F1 BEW Lion Lops in the Fall, and F1 VM/VC Lion Lops in the Winter.

Hi Jennie,

Oh my gosh, I love my sweet princesses. You did such a wonderful job w/ them, that is for sure. They greet me at their cage, I pick them up and carry them around, we have pet/kissy sessions (I'm constantly kissing them on their precious heads) and play time in the large pen/play area. I love them so much and they seem so happy to be together too. I ended up naming them Cei Cei and Mei Mei hee hee, cute huh? Cei Cei for the obvious reason, the first bun I was planning to get, so in my mind I would say "Bunny C C" and I thought it would be adorable for their names to rhym. They are both using the litter box. I put kiln dried pine shavings in their box and they've been using it. My sweet bun Lyle uses his so I thought they'd use theirs too. Lyle keeps trying to impress his new sisters by doing binkies in front of them. He is georgeous and he knows it! The girls are so mild mannered, they do the polite thing and watch his little show he he. Also the girls drink out of their water bottle. At first I was putting in a dish of water as well as the bottle because I forgot to ask you if they had been drinking out of a water bottle. They are doing just great and I appreciate your kindness and how sweet you are w/ the bunnies. I could tell when you brought them to me how loved you made them feel because they looked so comfortable and at ease in your arms. Thank you for my sweet girls that I love so much!

New Lolli Lop!

So I knew Blue-Eyed Whites were adorable, from all the pictures I had seen of them - but OMG. They are SO MUCH CUTER IN REAL LIFE.

I picked up my first BEW buck from Riddles Bunny Barn (Thank you so much Christie!) today, and I couldn't stop saying how cute it was. It's cuter than a puppy. That's how cute little Orlando is (;

Anyways, so he's munching on hay now, and throwing his toys around. I really can't get over how cute this guy is, so I'll just stop typing and make a video about it soon!

Orlando will be helping me start my VM/VC Lionhead and BEW LionLop program! (When he is of age of course, which will be later in the Summer) Unfortunately, he's still very young - so these programs are going to take a bit of time to start. I really can't wait, because these little babies are going to be SO beautiful.

P.S. - If you're around Northern Virginia, and are looking for some really cute Lionheads - Christie @ Riddles Bunny Barn is the place to look! She breeds the cutest, prettiest Lionheads I've ever seen. Hands down. Hi Jennie-

We just wanted to e-mail and update you about the bun we took home this past weekend. We named him Hamilton, and he is doing great! He is so incredibly friendly! I was a little apprehensive because most of the rabbits I remember being around when I grew up would nip and bite and were terrified of humans for the most part. He is incredibly snuggly and friendly and is adjusting to his new environment wonderfully. We have two cats at home and he tries to play with them as if they were giant rabbits. Just last night he was binking around the living room trying to get the cats to chase him. They were a little confused though and just watched. Our female cat treats him like a kitten and is already snuggling with him and cleaning him. We couldn't be happier with his temperament and incredibly soft coat. You did a great job warming him up to humans, and he is going to make a wonderful addition to our family. (Also thanks for the hint on the wire bottom cage, its perfect!)

New Lionhead!

So I just picked up my very first Lionhead doe from Slatehill's Rabbitry in Manchester, MD (1.5 hr drive!) and I'm so excited! This friendly little girl comes from a very fluffy lionhead buck, and a netherland dwarf - meaning she will have a compact body and a fluffy single mane.

When she is of age, she will help me start my very first line of BEW f2 lionheads in the Summer, and I'm so excited!

I haven't picked him up yet, as he is still going through his 8 weeks at Riddle's Bunny Barn - but I'm so excited to announce that I've purchased my first little Blue Eyed White (Double Mane) Lionhead!

Little 'Orlando' will be helping me start my line of BEW Lionhead and LionLops this fall, and I'm very excited because Orlando is an F3 Double Maned buck.

As an F3 DM, the Lionheads from his line will (if crossed with another F3 or PB) produce PB Double Mane kits with Blue Eyes.. (: [In other words, as a Purebred BEW - every single kit will have blue eyes and a very thick mane. ]

In addition, as a DM buck, the LionLops from his line will produce 100% Single mane F1 Lionhead Lops.. and 50% chance of blue eyes (!!!) [In other words, every single kit will have a guaranteed mane - true Blue eyed LionLops!]

[Week 5: Day 31] Little ANIMALS!

I'm pretty sure I shouldn't really be calling them babies anymore, because these guys are growing so quickly! They're actually starting to look like little ANIMALS now, and not just little bundles of fluff.

Bunny A & B are in weaning right now, as I've separated them from their mother and into a separate cage. The other 3 [the smaller ones] will be taken out day by day, so that by next week - they should be all completely weaned. The purpose of taking them one day at a time, is so that TinkTink can comfortably transition out of lactating.

These little bunnies are as cute as ever, and I'm not going to waste any time trying to explain in words - so here's another video! Enjoy. (;

[Week 5: Day 27]

Here are a couple of mini BIOs for these little guys as they're growing into their personalities. [To enlarge the pictures, just click on them!]

[Bunny A: Buck]: This little orange guy is truly a Mama's boy. Much like his mother, he's very friendly and loves being pet. Whenever I open the cage to place more food in their bowls, Mama and Bunny A are always the first to run towards the door, and dip their heads to be pet together. Not only is this guy friendly, but his handsome coat is a bright orange - that these pictures unfortunately don't do justice of! [My camera tends to dilute the colors in certain lightings.] In addition, Bunny A is growing more quickly than the others, and his big floppy ears are one of his many adorable attributes.

[Bunny B: Buck] This little guy is my favorite to take pictures of, not only because he loves to strike poses and pause for good pictures, but also because he has the most interesting colored coat of the bunch. The top of his coat is a chocolate brown, but the back of his head and his undercoat is a soft orange. In addition, he has cream-colored rings around his eyes, his feet and underbelly. As the weeks progress, his coat continues to reveal different shades of colors that I did not expect to see. In addition, this little guy, much like his parents - loves to be held and pet on the head. Being one of the more active ones, he loves to jump around the cage and onto his siblings, causing a chain of bunny hopping reactions. [View the video in my previous post to see this =) .]

[Bunny C: Doe] Little Bunny C loves cuddling. She likes to sit in laps, and be pet on the head, and will show you this by running towards you and dipping her head (see bottom right picture of the comic). She not only looks almost exactly like her mother, but she also loves to groom her siblings around her, much like her Mama did when she was younger. Bunny C will be one of the smaller ones, as she is the 2nd to smallest of the bunch. She's so small and portable, and loves to hang out in sweater pockets for rides. Bunny C will most likely be an affectionate and docile little girl, and if you're lucky - she'll groom you with her little bunny kisses too!

[Bunny D: Buck]This fuzzy little guy is one of the most interesting babies in his litter. He certainly resembles his father (Emilio, the Lionhead) and has obviously inherited the gene from his father's mane. As you can see in these pictures, the mane around his head is growing around the neck and face - which is going to look very pretty when he grows up. His ears are much shorter than his siblings, meaning his physical attributes will resemble more of his father. However, he inherited his orange and white coat from his mother, and much like both of his parents - he is also very affectionate and curious. Never afraid of new people approaching him, this curious little bunny likes to explore, and be pet on his cute little lion-head.

[Bunny E: Doe] This little girl loves to snuggle and cuddle, and can always be found right in the middle of the huddle. She loves to be held, and as you can see in the bottom pictures of the comic - she definitely keeps herself clean! She's always grooming her fur, and also likes to groom her siblings as well. She has grown to be the family favorite, as she is very docile and calm when being held, and loves to pose for cute pictures. This little girl has speckles of different shades of brown on her back, her ears, around her eyes, and one little speck next to her nose (see bottom left picture of comic). She is the smallest of the bunch, and certainly one of the sweetest as well.

[Week 4: Day 24] Babies Take Flight!

New Bunny: Beginner's Guide

This post & video is mainly for New Bunny Owners.

Basically, before you take your bunny home with you - this is what you need:

Cage
Pellet food & Hay
Cage accessories

All of these can be found at a local Booth Feeds store near you. (www.BoothFeeds.com)
Booth Feeds offers larger quantities of food, hay & alfalfa - for a much cheaper price, than other pet stores will offer.

In this video, I cover what you need to have for your bunny, and where you can get it for a much cheaper price. In addition, I compare the different types of cages and food that you can choose from, and why some options may be more beneficial to you and your new bunny in the long run.

What I recommend:

1) Pellet Food: Purina's Advanced Nutrition: Show Formula
This formula keeps the rabbit's coat shiny and soft - in addition, it helps prevent intestinal problems - which is a big issue for bunnies that are growing, as their digestive systems are transitioning.

2) Cages: Safeguard Wired Bottom cages
These cages are very easy to clean, and unlike plastic-bottomed cages - safeguard cages do not require you to buy any bedding. Buying a wired-bottom cage can save you lots of money and trips to the pet store, as you do not have to replace the bedding. The waste goes through the wire and on to a tray, so really you only have to replace the tray every day or two. I place old newspaper to line the tray, to make things easier when I replace the tray. Not only do these safeguard cages keep your bunny's living environment cleaner, but it also keeps your bunny a lot cleaner, because the waste is dropped into a tray - versus being caked into chunks of bedding. Trust me, safeguard cages are the way to go.

3) Hay & Alfalfa: Booth Feeds
Buying a small bag of alfalfa/hay from a petstore will cost you about $5-$10 - and will last you about a week or two. Ultimately, if you skip the pet store and go to Booth Feeds instead - you get a lot more hay & alfalfa for just about the same price.

So, needless to say - the babies are getting cuter and cuter as expected. They're getting so fuzzy and are beginning to show affection, as they groom their siblings. All of them enjoy being pet on the head, and have started to learn how to escape from their nestbox. Sadly they don't know how to get back in, so I've been having to check every couple hours to see which ones I need to pick up and put back in. It's funny, because they keep chasing Tinkerbell around the cage for more milk when they've escaped.

Anyways, so TinkTink was really dirty today for some reason, so I decided to give her a bath (which she absolutely hated, and ended up kicking water all over the place. Note to self: never give her a bath in a light colored t-shirt ever again) And as she was drying, I decided to take her outside into the outdoor cage for her to enjoy the sun at the same time. Then I brought the little kids along for them to enjoy their first day outside as well. They didn't seem to be so excited with their new surroundings, but they did enjoy munching on the grass.

[Week 2: Day 9] Mini Sausages

So it's Day 8-9 (I'm writing this really late/early) And today is the day that the little kits should start to open their eyes! Unfortunately, I will be in Philly for the day, but I decided to post this video to keep you all updated on how these little sprouts have been progressing.

They're starting to be able to move their ears around, and have gotten a lot bigger and chubbier.

Tink just finished feeding them about a half hour ago, so I decided to take a little video of them napping after their meal, because it was so cute. Plus, when they're hungry, they hop all over the place and start a frenzy of squeels when I put my hand in the box.

As the fur is growing out, you can see the little piglets turn into mini bunnies (: The colors are a lot more visible now, and these little nuggets are lively and feistier as ever. I put one hand in there, and they all started jumping at each other, thinking it was milk time. They get so excited when they sense that their mother is around them. I decided to have one of them (the orange one) fed, because it was looking smaller than the others, so I put Tink in the cage, when they all started to get super excited and hopped all over the cage. As three of them were being fed, the other two were wandering off, trying to find their mother after they had scrambled outside of the nest. Crazy beeans.

It's been a couple days, so I cleaned the cage, and put in a new nest. Hopefully this won't confuse Tink, but she's bright and fearless... earlier today, she attacked my poodle, JJ for being in the same room. Which was really funny, because.. who does she think she is? She's half his size!

OK ANYWAYS - here's the cuteness. And yes, they're all healthy and well fed at the moment. (:

So far, all the babies are still healthy and wiggling around, which is good. (: I can't tell if there's any peanuts (aka the runts of bunnies) in the litter, but if there are then we'll see in the next couple of days. I really don't think there are any, because they all look healthy, and lively.

[Week 1: Day 1] NEW KITS!

I am SO EXCITED right now..

So Tinkerbelle just had 5 new babies, and I'm so excited! This is her second litter, and I'm so happy that they made it and that they're all healthy. A couple months ago, she had a litter of two that did not make it, unfortunately.

I'd also like to say that these baby bunnies are going to be the THE CUTEST bunnies ever, as the mother is a holland lop, and the father is a lionhead. I'm going to post pictures of them soon, but what you basically get as an outcome is a bunny with lop ears that has the mane of a lion. It's also known as a lion lop.. which looks like this.

From what I can tell, one of them is going to have black spots, and while most of them are light, there's one that's really dark.

It's the first day, so please keep them in your prayers. (:

Lion Lops

Yes, there IS such thing as a 'Lion Lop'. Lion Lops are a cross between a Lionhead rabbit, and a Lop-eared rabbit - resulting in a Lop eared rabbit, with a Lionhead mane. Typically, a successful Lion Lop will inherit both the Mane-gene, and the Lop ears. LionLops are a very rare breed, as they are not recognized by ARBA. In addition, there are no organized 'shows' for Lion Lops, meaning there are no breeders who breed them for show either - which makes them quite hard to find. Luckily, you've found Lolli Lops - who are on a mission. (;

Temperament: Based on my very first litter of Lion Lops, (See Litter 1) these little guys tend to be very curious, energetic and love to be pet. Like all rabbits, their personality and the bond that you develop with your rabbit is based on the time and effort that you spend with them. But really, the Holland Lop and the Lionhead are already both very warm and affectionate breeds, so why wouldn't you expect a bundle of love from this crossing?

Generations: Similar to Lionheads, there are 4 different generations that Lion Lops will fall under. Lolli-Lops has to start from scratch, as there are no Lion Lop breeders around the MD/DC/VA area - meaning most of these kits will be F1 Lion Lops; our goal (although it will take much time) is to have PB Lion Lops in the near future.

F1: First generation Lion Lop. This is usually a Lionhead crossed with a Lop. (Lolli Lop uses Holland Lops or French Lops.) The kits should inherit both the Lop ears and the Mane.
F2: Second generation Lion Lop. An F2 Lion Lop results in a cross between an F1 Lion Lop and another F1 Lion Lop, or anything greater (F2, F3, F4/PB)
F3: Third generation Lion Lop. An F3 Lion Lop results in a cross between an F2 Lion Lop and another F2 Lion Lop, or anything greater (F3, F4/PB)
F4: Finally, a Purebred Lion Lop (F4) Results in a cross between an F3 Lion Lop and another F3 Lion Lop or greater (another F4/PB). All Lion Lop should be Purebred from there on out, unless it is crossed with a non-Lion Lop rabbit, which will result in an F1.

DM kits are easy to tell apart from 1-3 day sold, as there is no fur around the belly, cheeks and legs - which are the areas where the thick fur will grow to produce its' mane. [The DM Lion Lop will always be atleast an F2 Lion Lop.]

Colors: Lolli-Lops focuses on BEWs, VC/VW, Agoutis, and wideband.

Lionheads are a popular new breed that Rabbits USA Magazine says 'are very friendly, easy to train, and make excellent pets.' The Lionhead rabbit is a very unique-looking breed that resembles an actual Lion with its' fluffy mane. In addition, the lionhead rabbit is relatively rare in the United States, as it is a new breed that was introduced in the year of 2000 and has not yet been recognized by the ARBA.

Temperament: The lionhead is typically very sweet and gentle. My lionheads tend to be very energertic and playful, but also love to be scratched behind their ears, and have their manes groomed. I have never had an aggressive Lionhead, but I also believe that much of its' temperament and personality is shaped during its' developmental years, when time and patience is needed to successfully develop between the rabbit and its' owner.

Generations: There are 4 different generations that Lionheads will fall under, depending on how pure its' genes are, as Lionheads are often cross-bred to different rabbits such as Netherland Dwarves to improve their mane, body type and size.

F1: First generation Lionhead. This is usually a Purebred Lionhead (f4) crossed with a non-lionhead rabbit, such as a Netherland Dwarf. Crossing a purebred Lionhead is usually done to improve mane quality, and body type.

Holland Lops

Colors: All types. Lolli-Lops focuses on brokens, agoutis, wide bands, and BEW in the near future)

Holland lops are the smallest of the Lop-eared family, and typically grow up to 3-4 pounds depending on what type of dwarf they are. They are most well known for their large 'puppy-like' heads that set them apart from the rest of the lop family, and are showed for their large crowns.

Temperament: Holland lops can be very sweet, curious and gentle, but also somewhat shy. However, putting effort towards building a friendship with your Holland can be very rewarding, as they will groom you and give you kisses if you win their affection. This takes time and patience. From my experience, adult Hollands love to snuggle and be lazy, while younger Hollands are very energetic and playful.
[One of my younger Hollands would run to my feet and buzz in circles whenever I entered the room - a sign of deep affection.]

3 Types of Hollands: There are 3 types of Hollands that come in a litter. The true dwarf, false dwarf, and the peanut (which usually dies during the first/second week of birth).

A) True Dwarfs: have a smaller, compact body. Their ears are short, and often do not past their jawlines, and their bodies are smaller. Show rabbits are typically true dwarves.
B) False Dwarfs: (aka 'Normals) are typically longer, have longer ears that past their jawlines, and have longer hind legs. False dwarf does are typically good for breeding, as they have larger bodies that produce more kits than a true dwarf would.
C) Peanuts: unfortunately never grow, and always die within the first/second week; Peanuts are produced when crossing two True Dwarfs.

Just to let you know, I have worked with rabbits since 2004, and have owned Lionheads, Holland lops, Himalayans, American lops, French lops and many more since then. I have also worked with several Homeless Animal Organizations in the Northern Virginia Area to help find homes for several rabbits, and have had much experience with these lovely animals.

I have always wanted a Lion Lop, but could never find a breeder that had them. They're a very cute hybrid, and I'm very excited to see how these little lop-eared lions turn out!

Moreso than many of its' family members - rabbits are very intelligent and can be quite affectionate pets. From bunny kisses, love buzzing, to bunny binkies - rabbits are truly special animals, and I can't wait for you to meet them.

About Me: I am an aspiring Veterinarian, majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology at George Mason University. I owned my very first rabbit as a sophomore in High School, when I first decided to try and breed Lionhead Lops. Initially, I was looking to buy a Lion Lop, but could not find a breeder around my area - which led me to purchase my first holland lop and lionhead to cross them. Like many other obstacles, my first attempts at breeding had failed, but after sifting through temporary defeat and gathering many learned experiences - with the help of many friends and breeders, I continued to bring my very first litter of Lionhead Lops to the world in March 2009. Currently, I am breeding both Lion Lops and Holland Lops; and intend to breed Lionheads later this year. I have always had a passion for animals, and not only do I breed these little lop-eared beauties, but I also own two dogs, and an african pygmy hedgehog.

Outside of breeding and school, I play quite a few sports (field hockey, flag football & lacrosse), make music on the piano, volunteer with HART, and am involved on a mission to end Puppy Mills. In the near future, I plan on developing a project to spread more awareness about the condition of animals in our world.

In the Summer of 2008, I singlehandedly raised about $500 by selling shirts I had personally designed to help spread awareness about the disturbing plight of Puppy Mills:
